About

This year, Ellie Escalante (Softball) and Riley Walls (Women’s Basketball) became the inaugural recipients of the Dr. Bobbi Bonace Memorial Scholarship, a powerful moment that reflects both student-athlete excellence and a legacy that continues to shape Otter Athletics.

Ellie and Riley were selected for their academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to service. The very qualities that defined Dr. Bobbi Bonace’s career. Their recognition represents more than a scholarship; it represents belief in their potential and investment in their future.

That opportunity exists because of Dr. Bobbi Bonace, CSUMB’s founding Athletics Director and Chair of what is now the Department of Kinesiology. A pioneer for Otter Athletics, Dr. Bonace built the foundation of a program centered on integrity, opportunity, and student success. In 2019, she was inducted as an inaugural member of the Otter Athletics Hall of Fame, a testament to her lasting impact.

The Dr. Bobbi Bonace Memorial Endowment ensures that her influence will never fade. As an endowed scholarship, this fund provides permanent, annual support to student-athletes who embody her values. Every contribution grows the endowment and strengthens the level of support available to future recipients.

On this Day of Giving, you have the opportunity to expand Dr. Bonace’s legacy.

Your gift will:
